Monroe City Senior Nutrition Center to assist seniors/disabled with property tax credit

The Monroe City Senior Nutrition Center is assisting qualifying seniors and disabled persons with their 2009 Circuit Breaker/Property Tax Credit at no charge. WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THIS REFUND? -If you or your spouse were 65 or older on the last day of the year OR 100 percent disabled, age 18-64 OR a widowed person between 60 and 64 receiving Social Security surviving spouse benefits. -If you are a homeowner: Was your total household income less then $30,000 for a single person or $34,000 for a married couple. -If you are a renter: Was your total household income less than $27,000 for a single person or $29,500 for a married couple. -Did you live in Missouri for the entire calendar year? -Did you pay real estate taxes or rent in 2009? If you answered yes. then the Missouri Department of Revenue owes you a Property Tax Refund. To claim this refund, please call 573-735-2131 for an appointment. Before coming you will need to gather the following paperwork from 2009.
-Form SSA-1099 (Statement from Social Security Administration including the amount of your and/or your minor children’s social security benefits.) -All 1099 forms showing interest, dividends, pensions, annuities, proceeds from stock sales, gambling winnings or any other income received during the year. -W-2 forms showing wages, salaries and tips you received during the year. -Verification of your 100 percent disability (SSI, SSA, VA benefits letter, etc.) -If you are a homeowners, a copy of your paid real estate tax receipt. -If you are a renter, copies of all your rent receipts for 2009 or a letter from your landlord on their letterhead showing their tax ID number and the total amount of the rent you paid for 2009.
However, if you rent from a facility that does not pay property taxes, you are not eligible for this tax credit. This would include any not-for profit residences such as senior housing, nursing homes or group homes.
