Brookfield Economic Development representative to visit Monroe City
Missouri State Rep. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, has announced his candidacy for the Missouri Senate. He will likely face incumbent Sen. Wes Shoemyer, D-Clarence, for the 18th District seat. Shoemyer, a farmer from Monroe County, defeated Republican Bob Behnen of Kirksville in 2006 to win the seat. Shoemyer previously served three terms in the House in the 9th District. The district includes 13 Northeast Missouri counties.

Monroe City Police Report

The Monroe City Police Department responded to the following calls. On Sept. 9 there was a domestic assault reported at the 300 block of Street. Andre D. Muse was taken to the Monroe County Jail for a 24-hour hold. There was a report of a possible prowler in the 400 block of First Street. The area was patrolled and nothing was located. On Sept. 10 there was a report of a large black dog on North Oak. The owner was contacted and he said he would pick it up. Phillip L. McGilvary was arrested for fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance. He was transported to Marion County pending a Ralls County warrant. On Sept. 11 a cat was placed in the pound and there was a report of a bull in the yard at the 600 block of E. Summer. The owners of the bull retrieved it. There was a report of a stolen check. Rebecca M. Lipp was arrested for forgery and disorderly conduct. There was a disturbance at The Dugout Lounge and the subject left without incident. Jamie Chambliss was arrested for assault at the 600 block of North Locust. Chambliss was issued a city citation and released. At the 700 block of Dixie there was a report of a possible suicidal juvenile that was found not to be suicidal after all. On Sept. 12 an opossum was released at South Lake from its cage. Officers assisted the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, and Monroe City Fire and Ambulance with an ATV accident on Route N. There was a report of a red pickup traveling up and down Catherine Street at a high rate of speed. Police made contact with an individual that knew the owner of the pick up and advised him to slow down. There was a report of a careless and imprudent driver heading eastbound on Highway 36 that was not located. There was a report of a runaway juvenile possibly headed toward Monroe City. Contact was made with the juvenile and the subject was transported to the police department juvenile officer and released to the Linn County juvenile officer. The department assisted EMS units at Hardee's. There was a fight reported at Dugout Lounge. Property damage was reported at North Park. On Sept. 13 it was reported juveniles were playing at South Park with a Port-a-Potty. The subjects were found and given a ride to their residence. Kevin C. Shipley was arrested for stealing, careless and imprudent driving and displaying plates of another person after driving off from Abel's without paying for gas. Shipley was issued state citations and released. There was a report of a black pit bull in the area of the Lake Gazette. Police responded to the area and were advised by the complainant the dog had last been seen running towards the American Vets building. The pit bull was not located.
